The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart is an indie rock fearsome foursome
based in the ever-popular Brooklyn, NY. The name of the band comes
from a story that a friend of lead singer and guitarist Kip Berman of
the same title. The band also includes Alex Naidus on bass, Peggy
Wang on keyboards and vocals, and Kurt Feldman on drums. They
released their first full-length self-titled LP earlier this year to great
reviews from a myriad of outlets. The band says that they are
influenced  by The Ramones, The Vaselines, Nirvana, and
The Pastels. However, their debut sounds more like Joy Division,
Echo and The Bunnymen, and The Jesus & Mary Chain. The bring a
pleasent, airy sound to the forefront and back it with duel vocals and
efficient drumlines. The album is one of the most complete albums of
the year with great tracks from start to finish. The Pains at
Being Pure at Heart captures the listener from the first song and
glides them along a series of surreal life-based rips that creates a
great sounding album.
